The project to foster the Energy Valley Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex (Smart Energy Ⅰ) is being operated as planned.

The Gwangju city government said on July 9 that it received a completion certificate on the same day after completing the 2nd Phase of the Energy Valley Urban High-Tech General Industrial Complex.

The General Industrial Complex is designed to focus on industries related to HVDC and ESS to nurture the new energy industry, a strategic sector of Gwangju. The city aims to create well-paying jobs and reinvigorate the local economy based on the industry.

While working together with the KEPCO, it also plans to make the Energy Valley a cluster of next-generation convergence technologies by linking with other high-tech urban industrial complexes located near the city.

The General Industrial Complex where energy and manufacturing companies are mainly located is built on 917,761 ㎡ of land.

The project comprises 3 phases and the first received a completion certificate on November 10, 2022, and the third will be completed as late as the end of December this year.

An official of Gwangju Free Economic Zone said, "This project is on track now, and the whole construction will be completed at the end of this year."
