According to Yonhap News,

The world-class national artificial intelligence (AI) data center established in Gwangju will begin its operation in earnest.

On November 13, the Gwangju Metropolitan Government said that services of the AI data center, a key facility in the AI-centered Industrial Convergence Complex in the Cheomdan 3rd district, will be launched on November 15.

The data center provides an infrastructure that allows extensive data learning, analysis, and utilization through high-performance computing resources such as "H100", NVIDIA's latest accelerator.

It was built using a hybrid method of 20 PF of HPC (high-performance computing) and 68.5 PF of GPU (graphics processing unit) clouds.

In total, the center will have 88.5 PF computational resources and 107 petabytes (PB) of storage space.

The data center was built on a total floor area of 3,144㎡ as a two-story building, in which users can freely select and use telecommunications operators.

Gwangju-si expects that the data center will be able to support more than 1,000 AI companies.

These AI companies are expected to shorten the development time by receiving expensive computational resources, storage spaces, and development environments necessary for AI development for free of charge.

Gwangju-si recently held a public offering and selected 263 companies to allocate accelerators and storage resources.
