Gwangju-si will create a complex specialized in remanufacturing auto parts in Songam Industrial Complex and Energy Valley Industrial Complex.
Gwangju-si announced that it will create the complex specialized in remanufacturing auto parts by linking auto repair industry of Songam Industrial Complex and Urban Regeneration Projects at 'Auto Parts Remanufacturing Cycling Economy Hub Technology Forum" held at the National Assembly Hall in Yeouido, Seoul on September 3.
The nearby Energy Valley Industrial Complex will support companies by conducting R&D on remanufacturing techniques and provide the equipment for performance evaluation and certification.
Gwangju-si decided to construct the future car aftermarket facilities in Songam Industrial Complex, which was selected for public competition project for urban regeneration innovation district project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport last year, with investment of KRW 156 billion including KRW 25 billion in state funds.
The city plans to additionally grow a part remanufacturing industry, a part of the aftermarket field.
It plans to spend KRW 45 billion in state funds in building a platform for collection, decomposition, classification, and selection, parts remanufacturing producers, and online and offline sales platforms in Songam Industrial Complex,
The city expects that the remanufacturing platform to create 170 jobs and help gradual transition of internal combustion engine maintenance companies (car-center).
Gwangju's mayor said, "we will push for the first phase of remanufacturing in Songam Industrial Complex and induce participation of finished cars in the second phase," adding that "we will do our best to secure state funds next year considering great interest of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy."
