According to Yonhap News,

Photonics Korea 2024 (International Photonics Convergence Industry Exhibition), where visitors can see the technologies and products of domestic photonics companies at a glance, opened on October 29 at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju.

It is the only photonics industry exhibition in Korea, where 59 promising companies and support organizations participate and show new technologies in 8 major fields, including optical telecommunications, optical convergence light, optical medical bio, and optical precision.

In addition, the exhibition features an export consultation meeting, inviting 30 overseas buyers from 8 countries, a photonics convergence technology academic conference, and contests for an idea and product design.

Daon C&T signed a USD 3 million export contract with Japan's Meishiyo, while Optomarine signed a USD 3 million contract with Japan's Risdan Chemical, making a total of USD 6 million in export contracts on this day alone through the exhibition.

An official from Gwangju-si government said, "photonics industry is a major industry in the region," adding that "we will actively support the local companies so that Gwangju can take a lead in this industry"
