According to Yonhap News,
The Gwangju-type Artificial Intelligence (AI) semiconductor made its debut at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s largest consumer electronics and ICT exhibition.
On January 9 (local time, January 8), Gwangju-si and Aim Future simultaneously held an online and offline demonstration event for the AiM-GJ-1 prototype at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
The AiM-GJ-1 utilizes AI semiconductors in closed-circuit (CC) TVs, enabling not only real-time situation recording but also the ability to users if any anomalies exceed specific thresholds.
During the demonstration, Aim Future, a local semiconductor design company, showcased an electric vehicle (EV) charging station fire detection and prediction service, incorporating the requirements of its client, NH Networks.
The technology detects the temperature of EV chargers in real-time via CCTV, triggering an alarm to the managing authorities if it exceeds 60°C.
Gwangju-si, Aim Future, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), supporting organizations, and semiconductor-demanding companies have participated in the development of this technology.
Starting with a pilot collaboration with NH Networks, Gwangju plans to carry out pilot projects for Gwangju-type AI semiconductors with five local companies.
Gwangju-type AI semiconductor pilot projects will cover areas such as AI fault diagnosis prediction for hydrogen fuel cell power systems, remote pigsty management services, and biometric signal analysis for pet care.
AimFuture plans to launch the AiM-GJ-1 product in September next year.
Through demonstrations at 30 locations across the country with KT (Korea Telecom), Aim Future aims to refine and advance the Gwangju-type AI semiconductor.
Gwangju Mayor Kwang-Ki Jeong stated, "We will succeed in the Gwangju-type AI semiconductor cluster model so that it helps expand the local industry and revitalize the economy."
