On February 13, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) announced that it has officially launched the operation of the G-STAR Center (GIST Space Technology and Aeronautics Research Center), which will lead space technology research based on AI and big data and perform key research in the advanced aerospace mobility sector.

The G-STAR Center will carry out core research based on 12 national strategic technologies, including advanced aerospace mobility.

The main research areas include AI and big data-based space technology, space robotics, space bio, and future aviation based on sustainable digital engineering.

To establish a new hub for future aerospace research, the center will lead AI and big data-based space technology research, while also strengthening space robotics and space bio research in collaboration with global research institutions.

In particular, the center will foster customized talent linked to the National Space Launch Vehicle Industrial Complex in Goheung, Jeonnam, and drive technological innovation in the future aviation and aerospace industries.

With the opening of the G-STAR Center, GIST plans to invite domestic and international experts in the second half of this year to discuss joint research cooperation for the advancement of the aerospace sector.
