Gwangju-si is launching a tailored workforce development program for companies investing in Opportunity Development Zone.

On March 13, Gwangju-si announced that it has been selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy’s ‘Opportunity Development Zone Demand-Based Support Program (Workforce Development)’ and will invest KRW 320 million.

The program will provide customized workforce training for companies investing in the development zones.

The Gwangju area’s Opportunity Development Zone covers a total area of 1,209,357 square meters (approximately 366,000 pyeong), including the Bitgreen National Industrial Complex Mobility Special Zone and the Gwangju Innopolis Advanced 3 District Artificial Intelligence (AI) Special Zone.

Gwangju’s support will cover 15 companies in the Opportunity Development Zone and approximately 160 new and current employees.

The city will offer practical training programs focused on mobility and AI that can be immediately applied in the workplace. Additionally, it will create new workforce development courses aligned with companies’ hiring plans, ensuring that graduates can be promptly deployed into industrial fields.
