According to Yonhap News,
The fabless semiconductor companies that Gwangju-si had attracted are opening their Gwangju offices.
On April 15, Gwangju-si announced that ASICLAND, the first fabless company that Gwangju attracted, has set up an office at the Gwangju Immersive Content Cube (GCC).
ASICLAND, the only Korean partner among the global eight partners of Taiwan's TSMC, the world's largest foundry company, possesses exceptional semiconductor design capabilities.
In particular, as the company is a fabless design house company that manages the entire semiconductor process, including design, mass production, packaging, and inspection, it is expected to play a key role in building the semiconductor ecosystem in the Gwangju region, collaborating with other fabless companies.
ASICLAND plans to establish a semiconductor research and development (R&D) center at the GCC and focus on technological development of the semiconductor post-design process.
Through collaboration with local universities, the company aims to foster talent tailored to the needs of local businesses and is expected to lead in the creation of high-quality jobs, including research and development positions.
CEO of ASICLAND stated, "Many AI companies are choosing Gwangju, and we will continue to foster strong collaboration with the city to ensure that ASICLAND's Gwangju office becomes a hub for technology that grows alongside the region."
Following ASICLAND, the second fabless company, Aim Future, is also scheduled to open an office at the GCC next month.
Since last year, Gwangju has attracted six fabless companies, starting with ASICLAND, and followed by AimFuture, Moai, Mobilint, Supergate, and Furiosa.
