GWANGJU < invest Korea

According to Yonhap News,

On May 7, Gwangju-si announced that it will invest KRW 14.8 billion KRW for next five years, starting from next year, to foster the local disaster safety industry.

The city plans to develop a disaster safety industry cluster, expand disaster safety industry R&D, and promote the development of disaster safety products based on AI (artificial intelligence) and ICT (information and communications technology).

The city has established three main strategies: strengthening the foundation for the disaster safety industry, expanding research and product development, and fostering disaster safety companies.

By actively leveraging the region's strengths in AI and ICT, the city aims to enhance the technological competitiveness of related companies and support the training of professionals and market entry, thereby addressing the limitations of a structure centered on small and medium-sized enterprises.

By doing so, the city plans to cultivate the disaster safety industry as a new growth engine for the region, while simultaneously enhancing citizens' safety and disaster response capabilities.
