On June 5, Gwangju-si announced that a record 18,452 people attended the "Gwangju Food Fair," the largest food exhibition in the Honam region.

The event achieved significant results, including export consultations worth KRW 18 billion with 24 overseas buyers and export agreements (MOU) worth KRW 830 million.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Gwangju Food Fair is the largest food exhibition in the Honam region, encompassing both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions. It was held at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center on May 29-June 1.

With the theme "Sustainable Leap of Gwangju Food Industry with the Region," over 300 companies showcased a variety of food-related products in 450 booths, including agricultural and fishery products, food machinery, and processed and frozen foods.

The Fair also included export consultations, domestic distribution consultations, and investment consultations to provide practical business opportunities for participating companies.

The distribution consultations featured 24 domestic retail MDs from companies like Lotte Home Shopping and GS Retail Home Shopping, achieving KRW 10 billion in consultation amounts.

The venture capital investment consultations, introduced this year for the first time, saw consultations between 24 participating companies and five investors, recording KRW 7.7 billion in investment consultations.

During the fair, events like the Gwangju Liquor Tourism Festival and G-Festa were held in parallel, creating synergy effect.

An official from Gwangju-si stated that "Supporting local agricultural and food companies in expanding their market opportunities is the role that we play. Building on this success, we will continue to work toward strengthening the competitiveness of Gwangju's food industry and revitalizing the local economy."
