Gwangju-si to provide financial support to eight youth startups for technology advancement

On August 11, Gwangju-si announced that it will provide up to KRW 30 million in technology advancement funds to eight youth startup companies.

The city plans to identify promising youth startups with innovative technologies and offer them financial support along with tailored programs.

After supporting four companies last year, the city has doubled its support this year, expanding to eight companies.

Any youth startup with a business in Gwangju and involved in technology commercialization can apply. This year, 43 companies applied.

The city held three investment briefings (IR) from June to August, and after expert uations by accelerators (AC) and investors, eight companies were selected based on business feasibility, technological capability, and investment potential.

The city will provide growth funds to these companies, which can be used for product enhancement, technical testing and certification, online and offline promotion, and more.

In addition to technology development, the city will also offer customized support programs. These will include tailored consultations to enhance investment attraction capabilities, public investment relations (IR), market expansion, and international marketing, among other multi-faceted programs to support practical growth.

The four companies that received support through the program last year achieved notable outcomes, including registration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), export contracts, and increased sales.
