According to the import and export trends announced by the Gwangju Customs Office on August 18th, exports from Gwangju and Jeonnam in July amounted to USD 5.17 billion, a 10.2% increase compared to the same month last year, while imports totaled USD 3.72 billion, a 10.2% decrease.

Exports of transportation equipment (8.0%), semiconductors (77.2%), and machinery (7.1%) increased, while exports of home appliances (42.4%) and tires (43.8%) decreased.
Imports of semiconductors (13.3%), machinery (24.6%), and home appliances (29.6%) increased, while imports of rubber (40.1%) and chemicals (24.9%) decreased.
In Jeonnam, exports in July increased by 7.7% to USD 3.56 billion, and imports decreased by 14.7% to USD 3.01 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of USD 550 million. Exports of steel products (4.5%), transportation equipment (3952.5%), and machinery (45.0%) increased, while exports of petroleum products (2.9%) and chemicals (3.2%) decreased.
Imports of crude oil (18.1%), iron ore (30.7%), petroleum products (27.1%), coal (12.3%), and chemicals (8.4%) all decreased.
