According to the import and export trends released by the Gwangju Regional Customs on the 16th, February exports from Gwangju and Jeollanam-do increased by 6.9 percent year-on-year to USD 4.85 billion, while imports decreased by 2.4 percent to USD 3.56 billion.

By region, Gwangju's exports increased by 5.8 percent to USD 1.39 billion, and imports increased by 10.8 percent to USD 730 million, resulting in a trade surplus of USD 650 million.

Exports of semiconductors (61.2 percent) and machinery/precision instruments (7.2 percent) increased, while transport equipment (5.2 percent), rubber tires and tubes (39.2 percent), and home appliances (54.8 percent) decreased.

Regarding imports, semiconductors (10.4 percent), machinery (62.9 percent), home appliances (4.0 percent), and other items increased, while chemical products (20.1 percent) decreased.

Jeollanam-do's exports increased by 7.3 percent to USD 3.46 billion, and imports decreased by 5.2 percent to USD 2.83 billion, showing a trade surplus of USD 630 million.

Exports of petroleum products (4.2 percent), steel products (0.5 percent), transport equipment (151.9 percent), and machinery/precision instruments (50.0 percent) increased, but chemical products (11.5 percent) decreased.

Imports of iron ore (0.2 percent), coal (97.2 percent), and petroleum products (9.5 percent) increased, while crude oil (12.1 percent) and chemical products (25.7 percent) decreased.
