Presided over by Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Hwang Ki-yeon, the meeting reviewed response strategies to secure an additional KRW 604.7 billion across 134 core projects—including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and social overhead capital (SOC)—for the 2027 government budget plan.

In attendance were 25 department heads from the Jeonnam-Gwangju Office, who shared updates on central government allocations, reasons for any omitted items, and review trends within the Ministry of Planning and Budget, while discussing tailored action plans for each project.

The total national budget requested by the Unified Special City for fiscal year 2027 encompasses 1,676 projects, valued at KRW 13.664 trillion.

From this pool, the Unified Special City selected its core projects by comprehensively uating the urgency of currently unallocated programs, their alignment with government policies, and their potential ripple effects on the local economy.

By sector, the selected projects include:
- 39 projects in advanced future industries, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and energy
- 9 projects focused on overcoming crises in the petrochemical and steel industries
- 21 projects to strengthen the competitiveness of agriculture and fisheries
- 22 projects to expand regional SOC
- 20 projects to revitalize culture and tourism
- 23 projects dedicated to public safety and welfare

The Unified Special City plans to directly visit the relevant departments within the Ministry of Planning and Budget to explain the necessity and policy benefits of these projects.

Vice Mayor Hwang Ki-yeon stated, "We must combine the strengths and experiences of both regions into a single strategy to ensure the future growth foundation of our Unified Special City is reflected in the government budget." He added, "I urge all departments to work as one team and give their utmost efforts until the final moments of budget finalization—carefully managing secured projects while actively refining our arguments and logical defenses for those currently left out."
