According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju Techno Park said on January 26th that it jointly attracted East Photonics, an optical communication module company along with Gwangju City.

East Photonics has developed and produced optical communication modules, designed optical path by using lens, crystals, optical filters, etc. Also, the company has technologies to produce high-quality modules at lower costs by utilizing automatic production facilities.

East Photonics plans to manufacture high-quality optical communication modules tailored to the rapidly changing communication environment with the commercialization of FTTH, transmission of high definition television programs, and convergence service of broadcasting on the rise.

Director Yu Dong-guk of Gwangju Techno Park said “East Photonics will invest KRW 4 billion in facilities and equipment by 2014 and hire 60 employees, so we expect the company will contribute to the regional optical industry and job creation”
