According to Yonhap News,

The number of new employees in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province edged up in July compared with the same period last year.

According to Statistics Korea, the number of new employees in Gwangju stood at 678,000, an increase of 5,000 year-on-year.

By industry, the number of jobs rose by 12,000 in public services industry, and 6,000 in agricultural and fisheries industry. However, the number of new recruits declined by 5,000 in electric, transportation and financial industries, 4,000 in construction industry and 3,000 in manufacturing industry.

Employment rate was 57.3%, down 0.4%p from the same period of last year. Unemployment stayed the same with 3.4%.

The number of new recruits also increased by 2.9%　in South Jeolla Province with 910,000.

By industry, 13,000 new jobs were created in electric, transportation, communications and financial industries, 9,000 in public service industry, 4,000 in construction industry, 2,000 in agricultural and fisheries industries, and 1,000 in manufacturing industry. The number of jobs declined by 1,000 in wholesale, retail and accommodation industries.

Employment rate in South Jeolla Province was 63.7% in July, up 1.6% point year-on-year. Unemployment rate was down by 0.2% point to 1.8%.
