Exports of agro-fishery products rose sharply in Gwangju and Jeonnam.

According to Gwangju and Jeonnam branch of Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corporation, exports of agricultural and marine products amounted to USD 240 million, 36.6% increase from USD 149 million year-on-year.

By region, exports rose 52% in Gwangju, and 29.3% in Jeonnam.

Exports of agricultural products shot up by 35.2%, fishery products by 36.9%, forest products by 42.5%, and livestock products by 44.9%.

By the end of July, the exports of agro-fishery products in Korea rose by 32.2% to USD 4.06 billion year-on-year. Exports in Gwangju and Jeonnam accounted for 5.2% of the total exports.

Lee Jong-kyung, head of the Gwangju and Jeonnam branch, said that Gwangju and Jeonnam's efforts to pioneeer overseas market and support for local exporters contributed to increased exports. He continued to say that the branch will establish a close cooperation system with overseas center and provide more fund for agricultural produce exporters.
