Gwangju City and 9 Overseas Cities Signed MOU

According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju city signed a MOU with participating cities of the UEA Gwangju Summit to exchange expertise on environmental policies.

Under the MOU, they agreed to share their mutual interest in restoration of ecology, waste disposal, carbon bank, and eco-friendly industries. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in participation of seminars and exhibitions, and training and exchanges of public servants.

Shin Gwang-jo, director of the UEA Gwangju summit, said that carbon bank and restoration of ecology are the unique environmental policies of the Gwangju city, and the MOU will establish Gwangju as a global green city.

In the meantime, export MOUs have been signed by renewable energy and eco-friendly products companies.

Boram E&T signed a MOU worth USD 6.7 million with Tajiri Co. Hanjin D&B also signed a MOU worth USD 2.7 million with Valcom Group.

The summit is contributing to the local economy as participants were considering importing LED street light produced in Gwangju.
