According to Yonhap News,

Korea Farm & Fish Industry-Up (K-Farm) project, led by Gwangju Main Customs from May 22 to support regional exporters of agricultural and fishery products to take advantage of Korea's effectuation of FTAs, turned out very successful.

Fifty four agricultural and fishery product exporters in Gwangju and Jeolla Province that had been offered intensive consulting services on the utilization of FTAs reported their utilization of FTAs surged 74 percent in late July from 35 percent in late May. Their export also showed an on-year increase of 39 percent.

Gwangju Main Customs, tasked with handling export-related procedures including granting export certificates for companies and items and issuing the origin of certificate, has conducted education on how to utilize FTAs and offered consulting services for exporters. It also operates mobile support centers for supporting the exporters to effectively use FTAs.

Gwangju Main Customs have organized six FTA seminars for 220 farmers, fishermen and agricultural and fishery producers and also distributed customized brochures making it easy for them to understand how to utilize FTAs.

"Our achievements demonstrated potential beneficial effects of FTAs on the agricultural and fishery sector, considered the most vulnerable to the effectuation of FTAs," said a Gwangju Main Customs official.
