Gwangju and Jeonnam Posts Trade Surplus of USD 221 Million in October

According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju and South Jeolla Province (Jeonnam) posted the trade surplus of USD 221 million in October.

Gwangju and Jeonnam's exports and imports in October amounted to USD 4.982 billion and USD 4.761 billion, up 3 percent and 8 percent, respectively, from the previous month.

Their accumulated trade balance during the January-October recorded the surplus of USD 2.232 billion.

Gwangju's exports decreased 9 percent to USD 1.152 billion and its imports increased 6 percent to USD 423 million as compared to September.

By country, the city's exports to the Middle East and the U.S. dramatically declined by 25 percent and 8 percent, respectively. Its imports from the Southeast Asia and the U.S. rose by 20 percent 8 percent, while its imports from Japan, EU and China dropped by 18 percent, 13 percent and 12 percent, respectively.

By item, the city's exports of semiconductors grew by 6 percent, while those of automobile, electronics and machinery and precision machinery posted month-on-month declines of 29 percent, 10 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
