According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju City and Jeollanam-do (province) recorded USD 446 million in exports of agricultural food, up 13.1 percent on-year last year, according to Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corporation.

Gwangju saw its exports rise 15.5 percent from USD 131 million in 2011 to USD 152 million in 2012. Jeollanam-do posted a year-on-year increase of 11.9 percent from USD 263 million to 294 million during the same period.

Paprika, in particular, showed a whopping 72 percent year-on-year increase to USD 12 million, prompted by the expansion of cultivation facilities including glass greenhouses and a strong Japanese yen.

Dried laver also surged 106 percent to USD 28 million, triggered by a growing popularity in the Southeast Asia.

Gwangju and Jeollanam-do are responsible for 5.6 percent of Korea's total agricultural food exports of USD 8.007 billion.
