According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju and Jeonnam Regional Small & Medium Business Administration selected six exporters in Gwangju-si (City) and Jeollanam-do (Province) as the 2013 strong global players.

Out of the 16 small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) that applied for the selection, six were recognized for their international capability, technological innovation and CEO's strong willingness to make inroads into the global market.

The administration selects companies with high-potential among SMEs that record USD 5 million in exports and provides selected ones with financial supports for overseas marketing and R&Ds in a bid to develop them into companies that post more than USD 50 million in exports.

This year, the selected ones include Korea Optron Corp., Namdo Mold Corp., New Bio, Moojin Service, Prudential Publications Inc. and Shin-Sung Major Glove.

In total, 102 companies were designated the 2013 strong global players nationwide, recording USD 11.85 million in exports, 47.5 percent in export share and 4.3 percent in R&D ratio on average.

The selected companies will participate in the government-led SME cultivation program by 2015.

"We expect the program to develop regional SMEs into a strong exporter in the competitive global market," said an official of the administration.
