A ceremony, hosted by Gwangju-si (City) and organized by Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was held on Tuesday to celebrate its achievement to post the record-high exports for the three straight years and confirm willingness to record USD 16 billion this year.

The ceremony included reporting the city’s exports in 2012 and its support policies in 2013, awarding prizes to 66 people who contributed to boosting exports, presenting exemplary cases and confirming this year’s determination to maintain momentum.

“Even amid the global economic doldrums, Gwangju recorded USD 14.1 billion in exports last year, following USD 11.5 billion in 2010 and USD 13.3 billion in 2011,” said Park Heung-seok, Chairman of Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“We will continue our supports to facilitate the entry of exporters into the overseas market by conducting education and market feasibility tests and providing consulting services,” said an official of the chamber.
