Gwangju Inks Cooperation Agreement with EAWAG

According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju-si (City) inked a cooperation agreement with the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG), according to the city last Sunday.

Under the agreement, both sides will cooperate in the establishment and operation of the national water research institute.

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology will also join efforts to make the both sides translate the agreement into action.

The EAWAG, under the umbrella of the Interior Ministry, conducts the comprehensive study on water quality, water resources and ecosystem with the 65.4 billion won of annual budgets and 488 researchers. It also focuses on implementing the social study on water, cultivating water professionals and transferring water-related technology to developing countries.

“The agreement with the world-renowned aquatic research institute will accelerate the establishment of the national water research institute in Gwangju,” said a city official.
