Gwangju Wins Contract Worth USD 780 Million in Germany

On March 13 (local time), an investment promotion delegation led by Gwangju Mayor Kang Un-Tae signed contracts worth USD 780 million at the International Dental Show (IDS) 2013 held in Cologne, Germany.

According to the Gwangju Metropolitan City Government, the delegation entered into contracts with dental companies in Italia, Mexico, and India at the IDS 2013.

An Italian company has agreed to set up a manufacturing plant for jewel and dental equipment in the city by investing USD 180 million for the next five years.

A Mexican firm is planning to invest USD 120 million in the city to produce dental appratus.

AlphaDent (CEO Um Jae-su) signed a contract worth USD 150 million with India’s IDS to export tialloy and bio-ceramic materials. KJ Meditech (CEO Moon Hyuk-ki) entered into a contract worth USD 180 million with a Chinese firm to export dental implant materials.

ICM (CEO Park Ju-young) signed a contract worth USD 150 million with Iran’s KFP Dental to export dental implant materials and dental apparatus.

Mayor Kang Un-tae of Gwangju Metropolitan City said, “The dental industry is growing fast recently. We will provide administrative and financial support to the foreign investors.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Kang Un-tae gave a briefing on measures to foster a dental industry cluster, and about 70 domestic companies have revealed their interest in moving into the city.
