Gwanju Targets Myanmar and Australian Markets

Gwangju and Small & medium Business Corporation Gwangju branch sent a trade mission which seven small- and medium-sized enterprises participated in to Myanmar and Australia from May 19.

Small- and medium-sized enterprises from various industries including machinery and medicine held group and individual business consultations with buyers.

In Myanmar, which has been in spotlight due to its recently opened market, buyers purchased all sample products at group consultations.

The trade mission visited companies in Australia where an increase in exports is forecasted with strengthened brand awareness of Korean products. The group expects USD 500 thousand exports to Australia.

Lee Jong-hwan, an official from International Cooperation Division of Gwanju noted that Gwangju will accelerate its efforts to penetrate markets in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia to achieve the export target of USD 1.6 billion this year. He added Gwangju plans to invite buyers who attend the 12th World Korean Business Convention to be held this October to Gwangju and hold export sessions.
