Gwangju Begins Preparation for WHEC

Gwangju announced that it will begin preparation for the 2014 World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC) which will be held in Gwangju from June 15 to June 20, 2014.

Scholars and companies in the field of hydrogen energy gather at the conference to share information on R&D technology in preparation for the era of hydrogen economy.

The city has completed registration of the operating committee of the 2014 WHEC and organized a taskforce team for the conference.

The committee will be in charge of preparation and operation of WHEC, overall plan development, installment and operation of relevant facilities and cooperation with the central government, Gwangju city, related agencies and international organizations.

The taskforce team will organize domestic and foreign advisory committees and operating committees to prepare symposiums, forums and seminars to hold a successful conference, design conference program and support attendees.

Gwangju was named the host city of the 20th WHEC in 2008. The conference will be held in June next year under the theme of building a healthy and peaceful society based on hydrogen energy. It aims to draw around 3,000 from 60 countries around the world.

Son Gyeong-jong, an official from Strategic Industries Division of Gwangju city noted that the city will actively support the committee and taskforce team, adding that it will endeavor to foster hydrogen energy industry so that Gwangju can become a leader in the era of hydrogen economy.
