Gwangju Future Forum Established to Seek Development

The Gwangju Development Institute (GDI) initiated the Gwangju Future Forum last Thursday to seek development measures for the city.

Gwangju mayor Gang Woon-tai, Former President of Chonnam National University Kang Jeong-chaee and others attended the foundation ceremony of the forum.

Various development models for Gwangju will be formulated to respond to the future which will face aged society, climate change, energy crisis, smart society, technology convergence and China’s economic growth.

The forum will hold meetings, release reports of the city’s future and identify agenda items by sector.

Forums for university and high school students will also be held to foster young regional leaders.

There will be four divisions of urban environment, industrial economy, culture and arts, and social welfare. The forum will play the role of a secretariat for networking with other figures.
