Tomato Festival Opened in Gwangju

The 11th Toechon Tomato Festival opened last Friday in Gwangju.

Gwanju city prepared 100 tons of tomatoes produced in Toechon and Namjong myeon for the festival which was held for three days.

The festival offered various experiences and events with tomatoes.

Two tomato pools, the most loved attraction, were prepared at this year’s festival. The pools filled with nine tons of tomatoes a day were opened for the weekend only.

Visitors enjoyed a healthy food experience zone, which introduced tomato gochujang, or red pepper paste, exhibition of tomato species, tomato show and more at the festival.

Eco-friendly tomatoes produced in Toechon were sold at 20 percent discounted prices.

Gwangju city expected that the festival drew about 200,000 visitors this year.
