The Gwangju Techno Park (GJTP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Research Triangle Park (RTP), the largest U.S. research park, and Deltatech International (DTI) last Thursday in Washington, United States.

With the MOU, GJTP and DTI will facilitate international technology transfer with networks in 21 countries which DTI have.

Established in 1994, DTI is the largest technology specialized company in the private sector with annual loyalty income of USD 17 million and has actively supported Korean companies including Samsung Electronics to enter the U.S. market.

GJTP also signed contract with a federal acquisition expert recommended by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) for operation of a business center in Washington, D.C., United States.

As GJTP has designated the Washington D.C. business center following a San Hose business center in Silicon Valley and Detroit business center, it will now have a network which can facilitate exports of small- and medium-sized companies with private electronics and automobile experts and participate in the U.S. federal acquisition market.

Officials from the Washington D.C. business center and FCEDA will visit Gwangju in November to hold business consultation sessions.

President of GJTP Yoo Dong-guk noted that the MOU will help to build a Korea-US cooperation network to ensure a comprehensive partner for international technology transfer, joint R&D and export and federal acquisition market support, adding that the city will actively support small- and medium-sized companies to enter the U.S. market using the diverse network.

GJTP, which has 23 international business centers in 18 countries, plans to hold an export consultation session this November by inviting heads of business centers.
