(GWANGJU=NEWSIS) Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI)’s new Gwangju and South Jeolla Province business lounge, located at Yongsan Station in Seoul has reportedly aided in boosting local businesses and economy. In addition, it has helped local SMEs engage in global marketing and invite investment from capital area. The business lounge was established last May with support from the city of Gwangju and South Jeolla Provincial Government.

GCCI conducted a survey on how many people used the lounge at Yongsan station on the occasion of its first anniversary. It said on April 30 that the total number of visitors to the lounge reached about 8,500 and organizations and corporates used conference rooms more than 200 times within the period of time.

It turned out that the visitors used the lounge more on weekdays than on weekends. The lounge also made remarkable achievements including three successful export contracts and 22 conclusion of a contract.

The Gwangju and South Jeolla Province business lounge runs from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays and every Saturdays. The lounge provides visitors and guests with business rooms in which they can use office supplies and business equipment such as PCs and printers. All is available free of charge to all guests.

“Once KTX (Korea Train Express) on the Honam line, serving North and South Jeolla Provinces, starts operation, it could help more SMEs in the region strengthen their competitiveness” A GCCI official said.
