According to Yonhap News,

(ULSAN=Yonhap News) The cargo volume handled at Ulsan Port last June was 16.89 million tons, which is increased by 10.9 % (1.66 million tons) compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the announcement made by the Ulsan Port Authority on July 30 on the cargo volume of June, the amount of liquid cargo, which takes up 79.9% of the total volume, showed an year-on-year increase to 13.49 million tons by 13.9% (1.64 million tons).

The containers transported 43,495 TEUs, which is 24.3% increase from last year's cargo volume and recorded the largest number.

The number of ship vessels entering the port in June was 950, decreased by 2.7% from last year, but the total weight tonnage rose by 3.7% to 16.84 million tons.

"The amount of liquid cargo has decreased due to the routine maintenance of the petroleum companies in March and April, but is showing recovery from May and June," said an official from the Ulsan Port Authority, and added "We will focus on revitalizing the Port by implementing marketing strategies for the decreased cargo volume in the second half of the year."
