Ulsan city to establish a mid and long term marine and fishery development plan

According to Yonhap News,

(ULSAN=Yonhap News) Ulsan city announced on March 26 that it will hammer out a comprehensive plan for development of marine and fishery industries, incorporating mid-and long-term vision.

According to the city, the comprehensive plan will contain measures to: strengthen the competitiveness of region-specific ports; stimulate cooperation with countries under Northern policy in connection with energy and logistics; improve settlement conditions in fishing villages based on regeneration; and preserve clean and safe environment of the coast.

The city is set to make a leap forward to a sustainable coastal city by presenting vision and strategy for marine and fishery city.

Also, it will specify major projects such as establishment of eco-friendly smart ports, creation of Northeast energy hub, and fishing village new-deal project, while actively discovering policies required for the age of the fourth industrial revolution.

The city had discussion on the comprehensive plan as above with officials from counties and districts, and Korea Maritime Industry, Ulsan Development Institute, Ulsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, Ulsan Port Authority, and Ulsan Suhyup.

The city will review the discussion to incorporate into the comprehensive plan, and have the final report session in April, and finalize the plan in May.
