Ulsan city and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) signed an MOU to lay the foundation to support 'key parts of intelligent power' at the city hall on July 23.
The two will cooperate to establish a technological support system to build the infrastructure of intelligent power mobility part support center, set up a platform to connect with regional innovation institutions, and improve technological capability of enterprises.
They also have agreed to work together on expanding design development equipment for technoligical support, and fostering experts to secure capable enterprises.
The city has been selected for a new 2022 project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) that aims to lay the foundation for smart specialization regional hub earlier this year.
Within Ulsan innovation city, 'intelligent power mobility part support center', organized by the ETRI and participated by Ulsan Technopark and Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency will be established.
This project will be implemented for 3 years from 2022 to 2024.
The ETRI said "We hope the cooperation led by the intelligent power mobility part support center contributes to development of autonomous vehicles, intelligent electronics/power drive parts."
Ulsan city mayor said "We expect it will serve as a priming water to turn Ulsan's internal combustion car part industry into high value-added intelligent power drive mobility part industry."
