Ulsan-si announced on October 26 that it is speeding up preparations for the ‘3rd Korea-Russia Regional Cooperation Forum’ to be held on November 3 under the theme of ‘30 years between Korea and Russia, turning the Far East and Arctic as the center of the world’.

The city is to hold a “final report on the progress of the 3rd Korea-Russia Regional Cooperation Forum” at the city hall’s main building on this day with the presence of officials from relevant departments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Korea International Trade Association, among others.

It will comprehensively review major plans such as protocol and receptions, conference proceedings, PR plans, and countermeasures against COVID-19.

At the 3rd Korea-Russia Regional Cooperation Forum, major agenda items include the revision to the 'Memorandum of Understanding on Establishment of the Korea-Russia Regional Cooperation Forum' and drafting of the Ulsan Declaration in step with the expansion of participating local governments from Russia's Artic region.

Ulsan's mayor will preside over the entire meeting as the co-chairs together with the governor of Sakhalin, the next host city.

The Forum will also discuss comprehensive expansion of exchanges in various fields such as economy and trade, education and science, culture and art, and the matters related to opening up of the Artic Sea Route. They will also have discussion on multilateral economic cooperation projects including establishment of bilateral business networks.

The 'Korea-Russia Regional Cooperation Forum', launched as a result of an agreement between the heads of the two countries, has been held alternately every year in the Far East cities of Korea and Russia, with the first being held in Pohang, Gyeongbuk in 2018 and the second in Vladivostok, Russia in 2019.

Following Ulsan this year, the fourth host city next year was determined to be Sakhalin, Russia.

The '3rd Korea-Russia Regional Cooperation Forum' hosted by Ulsan will be held for three days from November 3 to 5 at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center (UECO) with about 800 participants from 17 cities and provinces in Korea and 18 in the Far East and Arctic regions of Russia.
