Ulju-gun, Ulsan-si will go all-out to create a 'drone standard city' with the goal of becoming a leading city in the Korean drone industry.

Ulju-gun held the 'Final reporting session on establishment of drone basic plan service' at the county office on July 13 and determined to actively build a drone standard city.

The reporting session, attended by 10 people, including Ulju county's governor, and officials from related organizations, consist of presentation on the directions for fostering the drone industry in Ulju-gun and annual implementation plans.

Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and The Bridge Strategy Consulting, a service provider, presented the vision of 'Drone Standard City, Ulju'n and the goal of 'Establishing Standard for Korea's Drone Administration Service' for Ulju-gun.

In the future, the domestic drone market is expected to reach KRW 800 billion in 2024, and Ulju-gun, where the 'K-UAM R&D integrated demonstration test bed' project is to be carried out, is expected to emerge as a leading region in the domestic future mobility industry.

Accordingly, it has been emphasized that Ulju-gun needs to establish a comprehensive plan that can connect the drone administration experience and infrastructure it has accumulated over the years, and to prepare a strategy connecting drones with urban air mobility (UAM).

They also advised that Ulju-gun needs to upgrade the drone administration by devising various ways to utilize drone services introduced in Ulju-gun to date and connect unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities in the country.

To this end, 3 main focus of basic plans have been divided into drone infrastructure construction, administrative services, and nurturing drone culture. For this, 6 tasks to implement have been selected.

For implementation tasks, they suggested to build an industrial infrastructure, build an infrastructure for residents' experience, operate a special drone free zone, build a drone network, prepare technology/safety standards, and hold drone-related cultural events.
