According to Newsis,

UNIST and Ulsan-si held a seminar on strategies to enter the U.S. market for start-ups and students at the Market Hall of the Industrial-Academic Cooperation Center on October 12.

The seminar has been prepared to enhance global market knowledge of technology-based startups in Ulsan and to explore strategies about entry to the U.S. market. The event consisted of a special lecture by Ryu Si-hoon, director of the Korea Innovation Center Washington DC Center (KIC DC Center), a partner organization of the 2023 Global Growth and Expansion Business Establishment Support Program (hereinafter to be referred as 'Program'), and a presentation of practical experiences by companies participating in the Korean I-Corps project.

Ryu, who is considered an "investment expert in tech startups" in the U.S., said that he would share incubating cases and strategies about Korean tech start-ups owned by KICDC and actively help promising start-ups from Ulsan enter the U.S. market.

The KIC DC Center is an agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) that serves as an outpost for the "Korean I-Corps" project, run by the MSIT, to enter the U.S. market. From this year, The KIC DC Center has been cooperating with the Program that was designed to help Ulsan-based companies enter the U.S. market.

Promising start-ups participating in the Program attended the event, showing their willingness and expectations to enter the global market, and suggesting various opinions.

Meanwhile, the is a project that Ulsan-si and UNIST have been carrying out since this year to discover promising tech start-ups in the region and facilitate expansion into the global market. Ulsan-si expects this project leads to job creation by attracting companies. As a matter of fact, two of the ten companies participating in this year's project plan to relocate their headquarters to Ulsan within this year.

An official from Ulsan-si office said, "the companies participating in the project this year are expected to contribute to leading Ulsan's competitiveness in the future," adding, we will support local startups, who are striving to enter the global market even in the recent challenging global environment, through close communication with them."
