According to Yonhap News,

On March 4, the city of Ulsan announced that it will push ahead with the '2025 Cultural City Development Plan' to create a vibrant and diverse cultural city, or a "U zam City (full of fun city)".

This plan aims to secure the competitiveness of the region's unique culture and lay the groundwork for Ulsan to leap forward as a cultural city, as it enters its third year as a legally designated cultural city selected by the government.

In particular, the city has previously managed cultural city development and cultural and artistic projects separately. However, starting this year, it will establish a collaborative system between these projects. To this end, a total of KRW 15.8 billion will be invested to carry out 34 interconnected projects across three key areas.

Key projects by area include: in the 'Regional Identity' field, which seeks to highlight the value of local culture, KRW 1.12 billion will be put into to support ▲ discovery of specialized projects reflecting the unique characteristics of districts, ▲ creation and production of specialized content on the theme of Ulsan as a cultural city, and ▲ development of programs to attract the participation of Ulsan's youth.

In the 'Cultural Autonomy Base Starting from Key Locations' field, KRW 1.28 billion will be used for ▲ the Ulsan Cultural Expo, ▲ the creation of creative spaces linking cultural city hubs and underused spaces, and ▲ operating a cultural and arts donations platform.

In the 'Collaborative Power of Culture' field, KRW 600 million will be allocated for ▲ discovering professional personnel to mediate between administration, private sectors, and businesses in planning cultural city activities, and ▲ operating a citizen promotion group to build a citizen-led collaboration system.

Additionally, the city plans to revitalize the local cultural ecosystem by connecting 23 cultural and artistic projects (KRW 12.8 billion), such as performance venue subsidies, artist creation preparation funds, and the Ulsan Art Pass.

A city official stated, "We will continue to expand opportunities for Ulsan citizens to enjoy diverse cultural and artistic experiences and work towards creating a sustainable cultural foundation."
