According to Yonhap News,

GS Entec will invest KRW 300 billion to build an offshore wind turbine equipment manufacturing plant in Ulsan by next year.

On August 27, Ulsan-si signed an investment agreement with GS Entec for the offshore wind turbine facility.

According to the agreement, GS Entec will establish the latest automated offshore wind turbine equipment using the monopile method at the Ulsan Mipo National Industrial Complex in Nam-gu.

Monopiles are cylindrical structures made by welding large steel plates and serve as the base support for offshore wind turbines.

When hiring personnel, GS Entec will prioritize Ulsan citizens.

In return, Ulsan-si will provide administrative support, including fast-track permitting, to ensure smooth progress of the investment.

Ulsan-si expects this investment to strengthen the foundation of the region’s eco-friendly energy industry and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy.

GS Entec, a subsidiary of the GS Group, has been transitioning from the petrochemical and refining business to offshore wind power since 2022.
