UFEZ and KOGIA joined hands in building the foundation for offshore wind power development
On September 17th, the Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority (UFEZ) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Ocean Grid Industry Association (KOGIA) at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center (UECO) to establish a foundation for the development of the offshore wind power industry and strengthen collaboration.
This agreement marks the first official collaboration since the offshore wind power industry was designated as UFEZ's key strategic industry in August.
Under the agreement, both parties will cooperate in the development of the offshore wind power industry, the establishment of offshore wind power grid infrastructure, the sharing of policy and technical information related to the power system, joint promotion activities, and the cultivation and support of power grid and equipment companies. KOGIA is an organization with member companies ranging from major offshore wind power and transmission and distribution equipment manufacturers, such as LS Cable & System, Hyosung Heavy Industries, Doosan Enerbility, and LS Marine Solutions, to specialized marine construction companies.
Director Lee Kyung-sik of UFEZ stated, "By playing a bridge role between power generation companies and KOGIA, we will expand the regional power grid infrastructure and support related industries."
