According to Yonhap News,

The Korean ambassador to Iraq pointed out Ulsan Mayor Park Maeng-u's recent visit to Basra, Iraq as a successful cooperation model for resource diplomacy among central and local governments and companies.

The ambassador submitted documents concerning the cooperative network between Ulsan and Basra to Korean central government agencies including the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and Ministry of Public Administration and Security and Korean diplomatic offices abroad.

The document titled "Ulsan Mayor Park Maeng-u's visit to Basra, Iraq" said the cooperation between both parties is credited to relentless efforts of Korean Embassy in Iraq, Korean companies including SK and Ulsan City. Ulsan has become the first city in Asia to establish the cooperative network with Basra.

The document introduces the details of Basra governor's visit to Ulsan last October and Ulsan Mayor's visit to Basra, respectively.

Both sides agreed to establish a joint implementation committee for a cooperative network in culture and sports and create the personnel exchange program for their public officials.
