According to Yonhap News,

The Ulsan City-led project to establish an Eco-Industrial Park generates an annual economic benefit of 84.4 billion won, according to the city last Thursday.

The project is designed to transform a national or regional industrial complex into a resource-recycling eco-industrial park.

The project, which began in 2005, has supported 56 projects with 22 of them completed.

The 22 projects led to an annual economic benefit worth 84.4 billion won by reducing carbon dioxide emission of 33,970 tons, wastewater of 79,007 cubic meters and residual products of 36,684 tons.

For one, Hankuk Paper recycled residual steam and carbon dioxide brought from Korea Zinc and Yoosung into the energy to produce calcium carbonate, a main material for paper, which led to the annual reduction of costs and greenhouse gases of 10.45 billion won and 76,134 tons, respectively.
