Ulsan’s Eco-Industrial Park Reported to Have Generated 88.4 billion won-Economic Benefits

According to Yonhap News,

The Ulsan-si (City)-led eco-industrial park project is reported to have thus far generated 88.41 billion won-economic benefits, 40.23 billion won-new investments and 140 employments since its launch in 2005.

In term of the prevention of environmental pollution, the project contributed to reducing 36,684 tons of industrial waste by-products, saving 131,597 tons of energy and cutting the emissions of 5,052 tons of sulfurous acid gases and 330,970 tons of carbon dioxide.

A combined 19.66 billion won investment, financed by the public, provincial and private sectors, will have been invested in the eco-industrial park project during the period 2005-2014 period, in a bid to recycle industrial wastes. The project is conducted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, eight local governments and Korea Industrial Complex Corporation.

Ulsan will implement 11 new relevant projects including the establishment of energy network utilizing coolants produced by thermoelectric power plants.
