Ulsan Port Authority (UPA) will hold an international seminar for Ulsan port development strategies on July 9.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ulsan port, the seminar will have two themes of energy commodity trading and international logistics conference, and past, present and future of Ulsan port (development strategies for Ulsan port in the era of creative economy).

At the energy commodity trading and international logistics conference, measures to enhance the role of Ulsan as a capital of future spot trading market with Northeast Asia’s only oil hub, to seek strategies to develop Ulsan port as a market for crude oil and oil products and formulate policies to establish Korea’s global oil trading hub.

Scholars from Korea, the United States, China and Japan will make presentations on seven topics at past, present and future of Ulsan port session.

The seven topics are Ulsan port’s strategy in line with North Pole route development, strategies for Ulsan oil cluster, current status and obstacles in developing Chinese port and dock facilities, development strategies of East-sea Rim Economic Zone and Ulsan port, analysis of competitiveness of large Korean ports, importance of marine insurance to marine business and port terminals’ automation status and strategies.

UPA expects the seminar to enhance the role of and upgrade the status of Ulsan port which celebrates its 50th anniversary September.
