According to Yonhap News,
(ULSAN=Yonhap News) Ulsan Customs announced on May 20 that it posts a trade surplus of USD 2.12 billion as of April.
April’s total amount of export increased to USD 9.45 billion, 34 percent increase from the same period last year and 19.7 percent increase from last month.
Total amount of import went down to USD 7.33 billion, 3.3 percent increase from last year and 0.7 percent decrease from last month.
Automobile exports increased by 24.3 percent from last year and vessel exports largely went up by 748.3 percent from last year which was mainly contributable to sales increase in container ships and chemical tankers.
Ulsan Customs expects exports in automobiles and vessels to go up on the back of global economic recovery, the U.S. and Western Europe countries in particular.
The accumulated amounts of exports and imports post USD 32.65 billion and USD 30.1 billion respectively as of April. The trade balance now shows a surplus of USD 2.55 billion.
