(ULSAN=Yonhap News) Ulsan City held a briefing session on the plan for the ICT Convergence Industry 4.0S, a project selected for the government’s preliminary feasibility study.
The city explained the project plan, shared experts’ opinions and discussed ways to respond to the preliminary feasibility study.
The preliminary feasibility study will be conducted in the first half of next year.
A total of KRW 182.5 billion will be invested in the ICT Convergence Industry4.0S. The budget for infrastructure accounts for KRW 71.1 billion and research and development (R&D0 KRW 111.4 billion.
Ulsan will begin construction of an industrial and academic high-tech town on 9,900 ㎡ of land in the Ulsan Techno Industrial Complex in 2016 and plans to complete it by 2017.
The high-tech town will comprise a marine and shipbuilding ICT creative convergence center, creative economy innovation center and an ICT convergence engineering center to support small and medium-sized marine and shipbuilding ICT companies, nurture ICT convergence creative human resources and establish an international business incubator.
The “Industry 4.0” refers to the government’s policy to promote an industrial renaissance by grafting ICT technology onto the manufacturing sector. Ulsan plans to realize the creative economy by adding ICT technology to the marine and shipbuilding industry.
